This session provides small group interaction to increase comfort and effectiveness in communicating with and about people with disabilities. Discussions include practical strategies to ensure that your employees, volunteers, and students with disabilities are included in programs, meetings, and activities.
Objectives:
• Identify universal signage and disability language
• Know how to communicate and interact respectfully when talking with or about a person with a disability
• Identify strategies to increase accessibility and inclusion in your programming, meetings, activities
• Create a welcoming environment for teammates, classmates, volunteers, staff, and visitors with disabilities
Audience:
Managers/supervisors, business owners, staff/volunteers, teachers, students, family, friends or others interested in improving their comfort and skill in interacting with persons with physical disabilities.
Duration:
1 to 1.5 hours based on venue and time availability
